The disconnection tax is real, and it is large. Across the interviews, roughly a fifth of team hours is lost to disconnected AI tools: duplicated effort, copy-paste between systems, and verifying outputs that do not agree with each other. One agency running twelve separate AI apps found it took longer to manage the process than before AI.

Leaders choose usable over clever. Asked what matters most in an AI tool, 83% ranked ease of use above raw capability, and 76% ranked integration with existing systems as critical. The winning pattern in the field is fewer tools, better connected, not more of them.

The wins are quiet, the worries are loud. The organisations getting real results often will not say so publicly, because clients still hear AI and imagine shortcuts rather than strategy. The real anxiety inside teams is not job loss; it is losing their voice.
